Since 1920, our traditional summer camps have been at the forefront of resident camping and have served as a summer home to hundreds of campers, staff, and alumni. Is this is job for you?
We are interested in finding a highly skilled professional cook who is responsible for assisting the head chef for the three meals per day that comes out of the kitchen, from conception to execution. Candidate must be able to live well in a community that is geared toward children. The alternative foods sous chef will be responsible for feeding approx. 50 people.
*Housing provided on campus*
Responsibilities include:
- assist with training, and supervising the work of food and line production staff as needed
- maintain sanitation procedures and organization of work area adhering to all Health Department regulations.
- maintain food storage, receiving, rotating & stocking as par levels dictate.
- must be competent in serving 3 meals a day for diets such as vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free, soy free and other dietary and food allergen requirements
- prepare all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner
- follow recipes and presentation specifications
- operate standard kitchen equipment safety and efficiently
- assist with the cleaning and organization of kitchen and equipment
Qualifications/Skills: (Minimum Education and Experience)
- knowledge of and highly experienced in preparation of special dietary foods including vegetarian foods with focus on allergen free foods including but not limited to gluten, soy, nut free options for example.
- experience in institutional or high volume food service setting desirable
- knowledge of standards of food preparation and serving, storage of food, and kitchen procedures
- ServSafe certified - highly desirable
- possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- culinary degree a plus
- willingness to support and/or lead student staff
Chefs have a designated relationship with their supervisors: Directors, Head Chef, Food Service Director, and Operations Director.
