Production Scheduler
Department: Operations
Reports To: Production Manager
The Production Planner/Scheduler is an integral part of the program team and is responsible for the planning, scheduling, and coordination of deliverable products through the complete production cycle. This position will serve as the primary point of contact for all production and materials related items in execution of the production plan. The position will be responsible for the creation of the production schedule, planning material requirements, engaging with Purchasing, monitoring material status, and resolving problems to meet production schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Create and manage detailed production schedule based on sales orders and internal requirements.
- Identify and communicate production resource needs, identify scheduling problems and bottlenecks, including capacity, to Production Management.
- Review release reviews to ensure information is available for efficient planning and management of material procurement and production.
- Ensure MRP data is accurate and complete.
- Interface with Order Administration, Engineers, and Buyers to identify and procure long lead time materials.
- Generate material requirements and initiate Work Order releases in MRP system (Syteline preferred) to meet production build schedule.
- Coordinate and provide direction to purchasing to obtain quotes and track material status.
- Proactively identify and resolve material shortages and communicate with purchasing.
- Coordinate with Engineering on design changes which may impact material on order, in stock, and WIP.
- Coordinate disposition of program material following Engineering Changes (Rework, Scrap, etc.)
- Continually monitor production status, report to Production Management, and adjust plans as needed to meet required delivery dates.
- Participate in production status meetings to ensure that schedules are accomplished, or rescheduling is correct and complete.
- Responsible for allocation of material to proper material charge numbers/Work Orders.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Understanding of Material Requirements principles and multi-level Bills of Materials.
- Ability to communicate effectively with many departments within the organization.
- Moderate to Advanced (Excel) Computer skills (familiarity with MS office applications and demonstrated ability to use Excel).
- Strong understanding of material flow in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with or understanding of ERP systems (Syteline preferred) used for materials management.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to work well in a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
