POSITION SUMMARY
The Controller is responsible for directing the financial, accounting, and financial reporting functions of the firm in accordance with financial management practices appropriate within the industry, and participates in firm leadership as a key member of the management team.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
- Responsible for all accounting department and accounting functions including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger accounting
- Manages the accounting staff who are responsible for billing, collections, and budget preparation
- Ensures proper controls are properly designed and functioning to meet firm objectives
- Oversight and management of all financial functions of the firm including budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, financial reporting, audit support, and cash management
- Development of monthly financial statements, including income statement, balance sheet and statement of cash flow
- Preparation of annual operating and capital budgets, monthly and annual financial closings, and forecasting
- Management of insurance coverages including professional liability, general liability, workers’ compensation, casualty, business interruption, and cyber security
- Preparation of shareholder performance reports for compensation consideration
- Strategic planning; participation with firm leadership in formulating objectives, practices and polices aimed at meeting short- and long-range firm needs and opportunities
- Serve as strategic business partner to board of directors and leadership team; collaborate to understand and develop goals and strategies related to overall business performance
- Manage, coach, and develop direct reports as well as provide daily leadership for accounting team
- Builds strong collaborative relationships with departments & practice groups that work to enhance overall organizational performance
- Maintains compliance with tax, regulatory, and legal requirements
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This role carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the firm’s policies and applicable
laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and
directing work assignments; appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees; addressing
concerns and resolving problems.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. MBA
or CPA is preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of accounting leadership experience is required. 15+ years as
controller, director level, or above strongly preferred. Experience working directly with senior leadership
on strategic business planning.
Computer Skills: Skilled with MS Office Suite and billing software (Aderant preferred).
Other Requirements: Action-oriented, strategic thinker with excellent organizational, time management,
and problem-solving skills. Collaborative mindset, with high-level of written and oral communication skills,
and ability to successfully resolve conflicts.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work environment is in a professional office setting. The majority of activity this role performs will be
sedentary work.
