POSITION SUMMARY: Supervises Lifeguards to maintain safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals and promotes safety in accordance with Team85 policies and procedures. Builds positive relationships with members and program participants through effective listening and verbal skills. Assists with pool maintenance
- Recognize and respond effectively in emergency situations.
- Enforce all aquatic facility policies, rules and regulations.
- Complete all necessary records and reports.
- Act as liaison between Aquatics Director and the Lifeguard staff.
- Ensure that all staff members perform required duties, adhere to facility rules and standards, and maintain a high level of professionalism.
- Assist with training staff for all aspects of job responsibilities, review and evaluate staff performance, document concerns and submit documentation to the Aquatics Coordinator.
- Demonstrate effective public relation skills. Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective and desirable working relationships with other personnel and the general public.
- Open and/or close facility, including all pre-opening safety checks and securing facility at closing when needed.
- Make daily safety/cleanliness inspection of pool facility. Analyze and correct hazards as applicable, report hazards and corrective steps taken to management.
- Monitor all chemical readings and mechanical problems immediately. Clear pool and close facility if situation is uncorrectable and presents a safety hazard to patrons.
- Assist with planning and implementation of Activities
- Participate and assist with regular in-service training sessions
- Complete all additional duties as assigned by the supervisor
- Assist and prepare staff schedules
- Inventory equipment and supplies
- Lifeguard, perform rescues and provide first aid when needed.
- Supervise routine maintenance
- Performing routine maintenance on pool equipment, such as pumps, filters, and chlorinators, and reporting any issues and troubleshooting problems.
- Testing and maintaining chemical balances in the pool and adjusting chemicals based on test results.
- Recommended to obtain Certified Pool Operator Certification
- Required to obtain Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification
