Essential Functions
- Manages and coordinates the activities of facility teammates by determining work procedures and assigning duties.
- Reviews budget for clinical salaries and supplies at least monthly and strives to stay at or below budget for these areas.
- Monitors staff scheduling according to case volume and case mix, considering patient safety, while balancing fiscal responsibility.
- Assists Administrator in the review of contracts.
Quality Improvement:
- Performs the role of risk management/quality coordinator. Oversees the reporting of patient safety events and near-misses to the managing partner. Actively takes steps to continually improve patient safety in collaboration with the stakeholders.
- Provides guidelines for measuring the quality of patient care, based on accepted standards of nursing practice.
- Implements standards, annually reviewing and revising, as necessary, to reflect changes in nursing practice.
· Works with the administrator, physician, and other staff members to improve existing procedures, methods, services, and programs, and implements any changes.
- Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
- Ensures patient satisfaction, including troubleshooting when there is a complaint and developing process improvements to prevent recurrences.
Patient Care
- Establishes and implements facility policies and procedures in collaboration with the administrator, physician and managing partner.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
- Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
- Ensures a safe, therapeutic procedure room environment is maintained for patients and healthcare providers.
- Oversees chart completion process, ensures charts are audited and complete before scanning into document drive. Holds teammates accountable for accurate and complete medical records.
- Maintains crash cart supplies and oversees monthly expiration mark outs and restocking.
- Maintains all non-product supplies and oversees monthly expiration and mark outs restocking.
- Maintains medication inventory and oversees monthly expiration and restocking. Engages with Inpro for expired medication removal on a regular interval.
- Oversees controlled substances inventory and security. Ensures daily counts and logs are accurate and that staff is trained on all controlled substance policies. Responsible for safekeeping of narcotic cabinet keys.
- Oversees daily opening and closing duties including logging refrigerator, blanket warmer, and procedure room temperatures, controlled substance counts, patient pre-procedure phone calls, patient follow-up phone calls, crash cart daily check list, and other facility-specific duties such as laboratory equipment controls.
Human Resources
· Establishes targeted goals and growth plans for staff; monitors employee performance and conducts effective performance evaluation sessions. · As designated by the administrator, regularly documents issues, performs disciplinary/coaching sessions, and keeps management apprised of significant personnel and operational issues. · In collaboration with the administrator, recruits and hires new teammates. · In collaboration with the administrator, orients new teammates to the facility, maintains initial and annual teammate competencies. · Resolves staff concerns at the departmental level, utilizing the grievance process as required. Regulatory/Compliance
- Ensures regulatory compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, labor laws, and other federal, state, and local regulations.
- Ensures occupational safety for staff through, surveillance of safety program and minimizing exposure to hazardous and toxic substances.
- Manages CLIA certification for facility (Waived or Moderately Complex). For moderately complex lab testing, works with lab consultant to prepare facility for certification. Acts as point-person for moderately complex lab management. For CLIA-waived, oversees control testing, vial outdates, CLIA testing logs, and staff training/documentation. Renews CLIA-waiver every two years.
- Oversees radiation/laser/dosimetry program. Establishes and implements policies and procedures based on state requirements. Schedules annual testing with radiation physicists and schedules annual radiation safety meeting . Maintains compliance with radiation and laser program. Oversees the quarterly dosimeter badge reports and sign-off by RSO. Maintains
- Oversees TMB requirements for office-based anesthesia. Maintains continually compliance with the OBA program including medications, policies and procedures, and equipment. Serves as the leader and point-of-contact for the TMB audits.
Professional/Administrative
· Maintains a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, leadership, vendors, staff, and the managing partner and its affiliates.
· Reviews contracts in collaboration with administrator. Periodically reviews contracts to ensure optimal cost-savings.
· Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
· Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
· Communicates the mission, vision, values, and goals of the facility to stakeholders.
· Escalates all concerns that cannot be resolved at the facility level through the proper channels to the managing partner.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
· Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. RN candidates that do not hold a bachelor’s degree will be considered based on experience and clinical achievements.
· Current RN License in the State of Florida.
· 3 years progressive leadership experience in a healthcare setting.
· Strong Human Resource skills.
Preferred Skills and experience
· 5 years of leadership experience in an ASC or OBL.
· Membership in a professional organization such as Outpatient Endovascular and Interventional Society (OEIS) or Ambulatory Surgery Center Association
