Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages all aspects of accounting operations, including general ledger management, internal controls, external audits, account reconciliations and cash management
- Responsible for completion of the monthly financial statement closing process and related financial reporting
- Manages and supports staff related to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll; including processing, reporting, and compliance with policies and applicable law
- Manages and ensures financial reporting and processes are in place to support the ongoing and future needs of the business
- Assists CFO with the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts
- Oversees the year-end fixed asset capitalization process and updates both the book and tax depreciation schedules
- Oversees preparation of periodic room, personal & real property, and alcohol tax filings and associated remittances
- Supervises and administers performance reviews for all Accounting employees
- Provides continuing training for Accounting employees and maintains the department’s culture
- Evaluates the effectiveness, design, and controls of the accounting and operations software
- Ensures that financial controls comply with company policy and effective follow-up processes are in place
- Oversees the continuous improvement of accounting and financial processes with the goal of achieving best practices, optimal output, and efficiency
- Other duties as assigned
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in the financial field with progressive responsibility preferred
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Demonstrated supervisory experience
- Strong financial acumen and knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
- Must be comfortable and unintimidated by working with and managing multiple software programs
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, a collaborative style, and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA certification
- Experience with Sage 100 ERP
- Hospitality and commercial real estate experience
