General Description:
The Plumbing Instructor job is both a hands-on and classroom-based teaching position that serves adults who desire to learn more about and obtain the basic skills necessary to work toward passing the State of Kentucky Journeyman’s Licensure Test. The Plumbing Instructor must be able to successfully connect with these participants and be able to teach them both the book/code knowledge and the hands-on skills for a job as a plumbing technician. The requirements involve an individual with a plumbing journeyman’s license.
Daily Work Expectations:
The Plumbing Instructor position is a part–time position, working with approximately 10-15 participants at a time for 3 hours a night, 2 nights a week, over a 26-week course (September to April). The schedule is either Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday evening between the hours of 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Instructors are also allotted ½ hour each day for program planning either at the beginning or end of the training day.
Job Requirements
- Assist students in learning proper plumbing practices
- Shut off steam, water, or other gases or liquids from pipes
- Using value keys and wrenches
- Install underground storm, sanitary, and water piping systems
- Extending piping as needed to connect fixtures and plumbing
- Assemble pipe sections, tubing, or fitting using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering/brazing
- Using pluming measuring instruments and tools
Assist students in learning codes associated with the industry
· Ability to plan:
- Classroom/materials budgets and needs
- Curriculum and lesson plans based on course offerings
- Maintenance projects based on student competencies
- Maintenance related projects and events

Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 14 per week
Experience:
- Teaching: 1 year (Preferred)
- Licensed Journeyman Plumbing: 2 years (Preferred)
