Position Summary & Responsibilities:
Position Summary:
The Kansas Soldiers’ Home at Fort Dodge is looking for a dependable individual to work as a Certified Nurse Aide on our third shift. Our residents are looking for people, who are friendly, attend work on time as scheduled and who want to be a part of the well-being of our Veterans.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Support residents with activities of daily living by assisting with oral care, bathing, toileting, turning, nutrition, etc.
- Change linens,
- Administer simple therapeutic treatments or procedures,
- Answer call lights and provide assistance,
- Turn and reposition resident at prescribed times,
- Complete required documentation,
- Check residents to assure their safety, cleanliness, and comfort.
- Completes required documentation of ADL’s
- Keeps bedside and room clean of clutter to provide aesthetic and safe environment
Qualifications:
Education
Licensing & Certification
- A current Kansas Certified Nurse Aide Certification
Minimum Qualifications
At the time of appointment, must possess a current certification by the Kansas Department of Aging as a Certified Nurse Aide pursuant to K.A.R. 28-39-165
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to effectively communicate. Ability to function effectively under stress. Ability to relate to residents with empathy and understanding and to maintain a caring attitude.
Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements
- As authorized by the 2018 Kansas Legislature, effective July 1, 2018, K.S.A. 75-4362 is amended to designate all positions with the Kansas Commission on Veterans’ Affairs office, to include both the Kansas Soldiers’ Home and Kansas Veterans’ Home as Safety Sensitive positions and subject to the drug testing program. All applicants with a conditional offer of employment on or after July 1, 2018, shall be required to submit to a drug screening test.
