FHI employees are expected to be on-site 4-days per week. We also offer the unique benefit of allowing employees to temporarily working from anywhere up to 20 days per year.
The Role
We are looking for a senior manager-level candidate to play a critical role to oversee the establishment and administration of Fanatics global accounting policies across numerous business segments and international geographies. The candidate should have a strong foundation of US GAAP experience as well as excellent project management and team collaboration skills. This role would advise global accounting teams and business partners on complex accounting and policy matters to ensure compliance and drive insights that influence key business decisions. This role will also facilitate technical accounting training that serves the broader accounting team.
What You'll Do:
- Provide oversight of enterprise-wide accounting policy implementation and administration through the ownership of the Fanatics Global Accounting Manual, including formalizing the documentation of existing accounting policies and elections and maintaining them to ensure policies remain relevant to evolving business needs
- Advising on Fanatics accounting policies and procedures to confirm compliance across all business segments and geographies
- Monitoring emerging accounting guidance and relevant comment letters for proposed changes, evaluate and document impacts across all segments, and oversee the implementation of any new US GAAP or SEC standards through the development of detailed policies and technical plans to ensure smooth transitions
- Developing and executing standard methodologies to enhance the value of the Technical Accounting and Policy function
- Establish and manage overall policy adoption plan, including scope of policies, critical milestones, and timelines. Work directly with Controlling teams and other departments to ensure sufficient cooperation in development and successful adoption
- Participate in the vendor selection and related implementation of new accounting software or systems
- Continuously monitor financial processes and controls relating to accounting policy compliance to ensure optimal efficiencies and execution across the finance teams in accordance with public company level financial reporting standards
- Providing technical accounting advice on complex business transactions including researching, analyzing, and documenting technical accounting positions and clearly communicate to relevant stakeholders
- Support accounting conformance or GAAP conversion matters for acquisitions, joint ventures, and new transactions
- Coordinate review of new and existing policies with internal and external auditors
- Creating and delivering training materials around Fanatics accounting policies to partners across the global business
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or the equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience. An active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is required.
- 8+ years of work experience ideally in Public Accounting and/or Corporate Accounting at a large, publicly-held company
- Strong foundation of technical accounting skills with demonstrated experience in areas such as Revenue Recognition, Stock Compensation, Leases, Internally Developed Software, Tax Accounting, etc.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively communicate status, issues, risks, and opportunities in a clear, concise, and professional manner
- Outstanding project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage, prioritize, and effectively meet deadlines working on multiple assignments simultaneously
- Ability to design, document, and implement process improvements
- Experience in managerial roles working with executive management
- Team-oriented leadership skills including the ability to identify, frame, and confront issues and make recommendations for resolution
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced, high-growth and often ambiguous environments
- Requires an understanding of the industries in which Fanatics competes
The salary range for this position is $150,000 - $203,000, which represents base pay only and does not include short-term or long-term incentive compensation. When determining base pay, as part of a final compensation package, we consider several factors such as location, experience, qualifications, and training.
