Job Summary:
The Vice President of Human Resources will play a critical role in continuing to shape and execute our people strategy (200+ staff) to support continued growth at Owl Cyber Defense. This role will lead the development and implementation of HR programs that align with our mission and values for both onsite and remote staff. The VP of HR will continue to foster a high-performance culture to attract, retain, and develop top talent and build upon and/or lead processes to drive team-wide communications and collaboration; Ensure a high level of accountability and team engagement as a trusted advisor with a data centric approach to support decision making.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support senior leaders across the organization with all HR issues including employee relations and career planning.
- Play a major role in the design and implementation of performance appraisal systems, mentoring and succession planning for maximum employee development.
- Work with the Leadership team to maximize employee engagement in the workplace including organizational and space planning.
- Enhance employee satisfaction through creative programs with special emphasis on remote staff.
- Ensure new hire process fosters positive attitudes and meets organizational objectives.
- Continue to grow and develop HR team members (team of 7).
- Oversee recruiting and ensure Owl continues to attract top talent.
- Oversee security and facilities as part of Employee Engagement.
- Analyze training needs to enhance employee development and growth across the organization including the HR team.
- Serve as a link between management and employees to help resolve work related issues and resolve any conflicts within groups.
- Work with Leadership team to administer and oversee compensation, benefits, and employee engagement programs.
- Lead the organization through cyclical programs, including talent reviews, promotion process, employee surveys, compensation and budget reviews.
- Track & measure quarterly goals, KPI’s, and submit executive level reporting.
- Leverage data pertaining to all facets of the employee life cycle and establish recommendations for improvement based on analysis.
- Work with Legal to update organizational policies and train staff accordingly.
- Ensure continued compliance with relevant HR laws and regulations.

Requirements/Qualifications:
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in HR Management or related field
- SPHR preferred
- Experience
- 10+ years of increasing HR experience, including reporting to C-level
- Experience working in high tech markets with Government and Commercial business is highly desired
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong Leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate remote and onsite employees
- Keen understanding of how to navigate both strategic and tactical aspects of the position (rolling up your sleeves when necessary and delegate where appropriate)
- Ability to positively influence stakeholders with outstanding communication skills
- Strong ability to handle highly confidential information with discretion and maturity
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively
- Experience managing and growing a Human Resource team
- Must have knowledge of principles and policies related to recruitment, selection, training, benefits, and negotiations
- Must have knowledge of State and Local Laws, legal codes, and government regulations
- Additional Competencies/Requirements
- Ability to travel to Owl’s East Coast locations (CT, MD, NC)
- Due to Owl’s Government business, US Citizenship is required
- Candidates in Northern VA or Maryland preferred
