Your role in the mission:
Type One Energy is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Materials Scientist with experience in the characterization, processing, and development of new materials. Ideally the candidate will have experience in the development and testing of materials used within the nuclear or fusion sectors.
As a Materials Scientist, you will play a vital role in the development of our Infinity One Project - a medium scale stellarator that will demonstrate the performance of a highly optimized stellarator magnetic field configuration as well as the viability of high temperature superconducting stellarator magnets. You will also:

Conduct in-depth research and analysis on a variety of materials, including their composition, microstructure, properties, and behaviour under different conditions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new materials into product development.
- Utilize advanced techniques to characterize material properties, including mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties.
- Oversee the manufacturing process, ensuring adherence to quality standards and maintaining strict control over material properties and stellarator performance.
- Perform comprehensive testing and analysis of the necessary materials.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and publications to disseminate research findings and contribute to the scientific community.
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of Scientists, Engineers, and Technicians to foster a collaborative environment.
- Collaborate with external partners, including academic institutions and research organizations, to explore potential collaborations and stay at the forefront of materials, fusion, and stellarator technologies.
What you’ll need:

Strong educational background in Materials Science, Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- In-depth knowledge of material properties, processing methods, and characterization techniques.
- Proven hands-on experience in materials test methods such as thermophysical properties, mechanical tests, or microscopy.
- Familiarity with computational modelling and simulation tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and propose innovative solutions.
- Attention to detail in experimental work and data analysis.
