Sea Turtle Camp was founded to offer youth the opportunity to learn about marine biology through immersive, hands-on, feet-wet experiential education. Our mission is to cultivate a love and respect for the ocean by building confidence and developing character while inspiring coastal conservation through safety, fun, and learning! One of our goals is to share our passion for life and teach young adults how to mold that passion into selflea ss, hard-working team of individuals that can recognize problems and work towards solving them. Through our grassroots approach, we strive to show campers a wide variety of possibilities at a time in their life when they have many potential roads to follow. In doing so they will learn the rewards of selflessly giving their time and energy to their communities, encouraging volunteer service, and potentially impacting their career paths.

Each summer we offer seasonal employment in beautiful North Topsail Beach, North Carolina. Free accommodations in our ocean-view housing for the duration of summer. On-site training on our specific expectations, policies, activities, and procedures will be provided. Core Responsibilities:
The Marine educator for Sea Turtle Camp must be a multi-talented and energetic individual with a passion to develop and provide marine science instruction to our campers. Applicants must possess a dedication to marine stewardship, teaching, and inspiring youth. In addition to marine science education, this position requires an individual prepared to give 24-hour supervision to our campers with their fellow team.
- Work as a team to provide marine science lessons to campers
- Educate and excite youth about the various North Carolina coastal landscapes, flora, and fauna
- Assist with the driving of camp vehicles
- Set up and breakdown of lessons
- Assist with coordination of arrival/departure of campers
- Maintain healthy and open communication between interns and volunteers at the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center.
- Ensure a safe place (both emotionally and physically) for all staff and campers
- Provide 24/7 care for campers
Requirements:
The candidate for this position must meet the following criteria:
- Available late May to early August
- Requires weekend work and the 4th of July
- Current certifications or willing to obtain prior to start: Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid
- At least 21 years of age
- Able to pass a government background check, possess a U.S. driver’s license, and have a clean driving record
- BA or BS in marine biology, environmental science/education related field (or working towards)
- Experience in marine science, environmental education, summer camps, or related field.
- Experience working with youth
- Excellent physical condition to maintain energy and excitement during long, hot days
