The controller position is responsible for effectively handling routine corporate and operational financial requirements for the organization. The successful candidate should possess a solid knowledge of journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, auditing functions and work flow to ensure that all accounting transactions are processed accurately and in compliance with industry standards. Effective communication skills and advanced proficiency of spreadsheet and database applications are required.
Essential Responsibilities:

Provides supervision and mentoring of personnel which includes A/R, A/P and Inventory

Ensures that accounts payable, accounts receivable and inventory transactions are posted timely and correctly

Develop and maintain a documents system of accounting policies and procedures for all accounting jobs

Responsible for month end closing process of accounting department including account reconciliations, billings, accruals, fixed asset depreciation schedules

Oversees general ledger to make sure expenses are being applied correctly to general ledger accounts

Reviews monthly accounts reconciliations prepared by staff

Coordinates financial reporting with outside accounting firm including year-end information for tax preparation and manage/lead the year end audit process

Review and create processes in ERP systems to address issues and use the system efficiently

Analyze and investigate balance sheet and income statements vs budget and prior periods then report on variances

Prepare and process motor fuel excise tax and sales tax returns
Requirements:
- Fuel industry experience a plus

B.S or B.A. Degree in Business with concentration in Finance or Accounting preferable

A minimum of seven years of accounting and progressive finance experience preferred

A minimum of two years of finance management experience preferred in the fuel industry

Proficient in Microsoft Office Products with emphasis on Excel
