Dental Billing Specialist Responsibilities:

Effectively review and research claims denials and contact payers to verify detailed denial reasons when necessary

Enter Dental charges
-
Performs diagnostic and procedural coding for dental

Reviews and analyzes the dental record to accurately assign the responsible Attending Physician and Clinical Service in accordance with established guidelines.

Contact patients to obtain accurate insurance information.

Complete appeals & reconsiderations for denied or rejected claims.

Must be able to identify and communicate denial/rejection trends to management

Must be able to identify and resolve discrepancies
-
Navigate and research insurance policies & benefits for policy exclusions for patients.

Navigate and research payer dental reimbursement policies and exclusions.
-
Complete request for reconsideration forms while following payer requirements.

Must be aware of the timely filing guidelines for claims and reconsiderations/appeals for assigned payers

Review accounts for accuracy (payments and adjustments)

Knowledgeable of dental EOB’s, patient deductibles and co pays, and insurance or third-party correspondence

Posting electronic and manual payments – insurance and patient
-
Must complete payment entry timely and accurately

Must adhere to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations

Other assigned duties
Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent
-
2 years dental billing experience
-
Familiar with CDT and ICD 10 codes is required
-
Must be familiar with dental terminology and procedures
-
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

Good interpersonal skills with a commitment to excellent customer service.

Capacity to work with sensitive patient information while maintaining confidentiality

Experience working with payer websites

Experience in working aged AR
-
Experience in an FQHC environment is a plus

Athena One, EPIC, ECW, Intergy experience preferred
