Location: US:WI:MILWAUKEE at our WI DIAGNOSTIC LABORATORIES facility.

*1.0 FTE is Full-Time, any position less than 1.0 FTE is Part-Time, and .001 FTE is Casual*
*Positions with an "FTE" (full time equivalency) of .8 - 1.0 are eligible for full-time medical, dental and vision benefits. Positions with an "FTE" of .5 - .799 are eligible for part-time pro-rated medical, dental and vision benefits*
Shift: 1st shift (4, 10-hour shifts 7:30 a m- 6:00 pm OR 5, 8-hour shifts 8:30 am - 5:00 pm)
Summary:
The Cytotechnologist performs microbiological screenings on slides from various organs for identification of cellular abnormalities and/or infectious agents.
Responsibilities:
1. Accurately screens and interprets cells from various organ types under the microscope.
2. Performs screening duties in an efficient and productive manner, meeting the established departmental standards on a regular basis.
3. Properly logs slide interpretations into the laboratory computer system, ensuring that all data and billing information is complete and accurate.
4. Regularly maintains accurate records of daily slide totals and slide diagnosis.
5. Ensures that all high risk/quality control and abnormal cases are properly distributed to supervisor or pathologist for review.
6. Becomes certified in new cytologic technologies as they become available, i.e. AutoCyte prep.
7. Retrieves all patient histories and pertinent slides for five year review on newly diagnosed high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions.
8. Performs applicable individually assigned duties in a concise and orderly manner (these may include statistical review, updating procedures manuals, FNA tests, etc).
9. Consistently completes daily/weekly maintenance on microscope and instrumentation scheduled within the laboratory.
10. Participates in and successfully completes all competency and interlaboratory slide comparisons (PAP) as distributed by the College of American Pathologists (CAP). The specific department maintains records documenting and substantiating competency and/or improvement plans.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor of Science Degree, which must include specific required course work as prescribed by the American Society of Cytology.
2. Successful completion of a one-year internship in Cytology.
3. CT Certification required.
