The senior accountant position is responsible for serving as a team leader in the finance department and ensuring the department creates accurate and timely financial records for the organization.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND INFLUENCE
- Assist in preparation and distribution of monthly Financial Statements for multiple companies.
- Prepare and post journal entries to various ledgers.
- Maintain log of journal entries prepared.
- Post and balance other transactions into ERP system.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, subsidiary ledgers, and inventory balances.
- Update, create, maintain and distribute various reports and spreadsheets.
- Assist accounting staff with partner cost and revenue sharing for sugar sales transactions and other projects as assigned.
- Prepare schedules and reconciliations for annual audit.
- Manage intercompany accounts receivable and accounts payable balances.
- Oversee the processing of system transactions by clerical staff.
- Responsible for identifying and executing process improvement initiatives, working in cooperation with VP of Finance.
- Provide on-going training and support under the direction of VP of Finance to staff, employees and managers to assist with understanding of accounting guidelines and procedures.
- Assist with process mapping and other financial requirements for ERP system implementation.
- Serve as group lead for special projects.
- Perform other duties as required.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Completion of Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field,
- Minimum 3 year of financial accounting experience,
- OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
