Cookeville Regional Medical Center is looking for a Full-Time Oncology Authorization Specialist to join our Patient Financial Services Department!
Job Summary:
This position is responsible for oncology billing processes including registration, authorization/pre-certification, billing, followup, collections and financial counseling for patients.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required
Additional Education Requirements:
Knowledge of third party billing and medical terminology/ICD-9, ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines. Fluent in assigning diagnosis codes based on ICD-9/ICD-10 coding nomenclature.
Additional Experience Requirements:
At least 2 years experience in medical office billing. Experience dealing with third party payment systems. Must possess strong knowledge of general billing and collection procedures, charge entry, knowledge of billing software and billing guidelines. Proficient knowledge of computers and able to use Microsoft office products. Must have a complete command of medical terminology, the ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team, manage multiple tasks and function independently. Must be able to adapt to changing work environment and work well under pressure. Must work well with patients have excellent customer service skills. Independent judgment required to determine appropriate techniques when collecting unpaid bills and negotiating patient payments.

Pay: $15.00 - $17.23 per hour
