The Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility, located in Rutland, Vermont, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Correctional Officer I. Correctional Officers in Vermont work in a system that believes in life safety and public safety in equal measure. This work is rewarding on many levels and draws on a wide range of skills. The ideal candidate can communicate effectively, leads by example, and has the ability to make reasonable decisions under high stress.
Duties are performed largely within a correctional facility and in the immediate area of incarcerated individuals. High stress situations are expected. The potential of physical assault or injury exists. Transportation and supervision of inmates outside of the correctional facility may be required. A valid motor vehicle operator's license is necessary. Forced overtime does exist and is unpredictable. Shift assignments may change in accordance with the needs of the facility.
