Position Description: Medical Assistant
Shift Type: Full-Time, Benefitted
Salary Range: $20-25 an hour.
Primary Responsibility:
As a Front Desk Medical Assistant, your primary responsibility will be to provide direct services to all Ken Starr MD Wellness Group patients. You will work in collaboration with the front desk team to ensure patient services are delivered in a comprehensive and compassionate manner. Your role will also involve managing associated patient charts and assisting the nursing department by preparing patients to see the nurse and/or physician and performing direct services within the scope of your skill/ability.
Medical Assistants must be qualified and certified to provide IM and SQ injections.
Qualifications:
Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to respond appropriately to patient grievances, complaints, and suggestions.
Previous work experience as a medical assistant, front desk assistant, and back office assistant preferred. The minimum typing speed is 50 wpm. Must be computer literate and understand modern software.
Hands-on experience with office machines (e.g. fax machines and printers) and medical equipment for an outpatient clinic.
Basic knowledge of customer service, front desk scheduling, patient services, and patient chart management.
Proficiency in English (oral and written); bilingual skills preferred.
Excellent communication and people skills.
Good organizational and multitasking abilities.
Positive, friendly, and collaborative style of working with peers and supervisees.
Demonstrated ability to utilize computer technology and willingness to adapt to the evolving technological requirements of modern medical health center practices required.
Fax prior authorization form to an appropriate medical plan/group.
Contact patients to schedule services.
Scanning Documents:
Follow scanning workflow to upload documents into EMR.
Ongoing Chart Auditing:
Confirm all patient required demographic info is updated.
Medication consents are on file for EACH med internally prescribed.
Outpatient Care agreement AND financial addenda.
General Office Duties:
Check email multiple times daily
Shred personal health information
Ensure areas for patient services are clean, tidy, and stocked.
Ensure infusion rooms are adequately prepared according to workflow.
Collect and sort mail
Light janitorial duties: trash, dishes, upkeep of bathrooms, water/coffee refreshments, plant watering, and office pick up.
Pay or delegate bills received for payment
Must be able to lift 20 lbs
