Title: Senior Accountant /Project Accountant
Reports to: Controller / Director of Finance
Position Status: Full-time
Annual Salary range: $85K to $110K
Summary/Objective Ensure the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions. Senior Accountant/ Project Accountant should have strong and broad accounting experience, along with a level of knowledge around billing/collection practices. This position will also be responsible for assisting with month-end closings, including preparation of all journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, Participating in preparation of financial statements and other related reporting.
Essential Functions
- Prepare monthly general ledger schedules and bank reconciliation.
- Maintains and balances subsidiary AP and AR accounts
- Participate in the year-end and month-end close process, preparing journal entries, performing account analysis and preparing balance sheet account reconciliations
- Generate reports including A/R, Billing, Contract Status, and Job Cost.
- Manage all accounting related functions for assigned projects.
- Assist project teams with any questions or needs related to the projects.
- Prepare monthly invoices, cash receipts entry for assigned projects.
- Participate in the preparation of the budget forecast for assigned projects.
- Analyze the company’s expenditure and benefits.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, to be able to identify, pro-actively propose system and process improvements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills at all levels, including ability to articulate recommendations in a concise and timely manner
- High degree of accuracy, strong attention to detail but also able to look at the big picture
- Must possess ability to work collaboratively with all departments across the company; ability to manage multiple priorities effectively with a strong commitment to achieving the goals of the department and the company
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, intermediate to advanced Excel and computer skills.
- Assist with providing documentation for external auditor requests
- Work cross-functionally with other departments to increase financial reporting accuracy
- Perform other related accounting/financial duties as requested.
- Working knowledge of Sage, and Procore a plus
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Travel
Little to no travel is expected for this position.
Required Education and Experience
1. A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or relevant field
2. Five years of progressive accounting experience required
3. General Ledger: 5 years
