Job Description
Job Description: The Facilities Manager, under direction, oversees the daily supervision and management of facilities staff. Manages building proctors and facility-related activities for assigned Texas A&M University System (TAMUS) members.
Responsibilities:
- Manages facility activities for assigned TAMUS members and facility staff.
- Ensure that facilities are well kept and ready for classes, programs, and activities (i.e. Arenas are prepared for use).
- Interact with Environmental Systems Engineer to develop, implement and monitor pollution prevention plans and waste management systems and insure compliance with all regulatory components.
- Manages building proctors in coordination with building maintenance and renovations.
- Monitor security and maintain key control.
- Assist in the coordination of all teaching, research, and extension activities with other animal centers within the Department of Animal Science and other research/extension centers within TAMU Agriculture.
- Coordinate and host tours along with other public uses of the facilities.
- Assists in the coordination of safety activities.
- Prepares and processes various operational documents (i.e., financial statements, inventories, personnel listings, etc.).
- Coordinates moves and safety assignments.
- Assists with coordination of facilities repairs and capital improvement projects.
Acquires and coordinates audio/visual equipment systems.
- -Establishes and ensures communication and enforcement of rules/regulations for supervised staff members and student workers.
- Conducts performance appraisals.
- Assigns tasks or responsibilities to others and monitors work performance.
- Other duties as required.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Five years of related experience with equine and equine facilities management.
- Three years of supervisory experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-Ability to promptly respond to on-site -emergency calls.
- Ability to manage, plan, and organize the overall building maintenance and operations.
- Ability to operate farm and ranch equipment, including, but not limited to, tractors, skid steers, trucks, gooseneck trailers, and welders.
- Ability to handle weanlings, yearlings, mares, stallions, and riding horses.
-Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and be able to handle most ranch and equine facility -related chores.
