JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Domestic Violence Deputy Sheriff
POSITION SUMMARY: The Domestic Violence (DV) Deputy Sheriff is a full-time employee (FTE) based on a 40 hour work week. The Domestic Violence Deputy Sheriff is responsible for service of all domestic violence process including but not limited to Emergency Protective Orders (EPO) Temporary Interpersonal Protective Orders (TIPO), Domestic Violence Orders (DVO), Interpersonal Protective Orders (IPO), Stalking Protective Orders (SPO), Domestic Violence Summonses, Show Cause Summonses, and Warrants from both criminal and civil courts. The Domestic Violence Deputy Sheriffs are tasked with service of warrants associated with domestic violence including, but not limited to: Violation of a Kentucky EPO/TIPO and DVO/IPO, Strangulation, Assault, Harassment, Harassing Communication, Terroristic Threatening, and Contempt of Court.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Domestic Violence Deputy Sheriff must be committed to serving our community with honor, courage, and integrity, while enhancing the quality of life in our community.
The Domestic Violence Deputy Sheriff exercises responsibilities for the enforcement of state and local laws relating to public safety and welfare.
The Domestic Violence Deputy Sheriff is charged with the service of court documents such as, but not limited to, criminal warrants, mental health petitions, EPOs, civil and criminal summons, subpoenas, forthwith orders, and child support documents.
The Domestic Violence Deputy Sheriff position is subject to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, and call back duty.
The Domestic Violence Deputy Sheriff is responsible for cooperation with other law enforcement agencies in matters relating to the investigation of crimes and the apprehension of offenders.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
To be considered for this position you must be able to meet the following physical strength and agility tests according to the Peace Officer Professional Standards:
Bench press 64% of body weight
Perform 18 sit-ups in 1 minute
Perform 20 pushups in 1 minute
Run 300 meters in 65 seconds or less
Run 1.5 miles in 17 minutes
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a Commonwealth of Kentucky Certified Peace Officer
High School Education or GED is required, but a Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a vehicle.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check and shall not have been convicted of a felony offense or any violent offense (misdemeanor or felony).
Have not been terminated or forced to resign within the twelve months preceding the submission of the application.
Have been a law abiding citizen and maintain a law-abiding lifestyle.
