CNC PROGRAMMER
American GFM Corporation, a specialized machine tool manufacturer located in Chesapeake VA., is seeking to hire a CNC Programmer -
Duties
-
Analyze drawings, blueprints, plans, materials, specifications and design data for machining parts.

Program mills and lathes by entering detailed written instructions to the machine operators, including zero and reference points, tool selection and setting data, offsets; calculating requirements, creating part geometry, machine speeds and feed rates, proving part programs.

Maintain specifications and increase efficiency by troubleshooting processes, adjusting and reprogramming/reposting.

Competencies

Excellent problem-solving skills.

Excellent technical communication skills regarding designs and drawings.

Proficient understanding of G-code and M-code programming.

Experience setting up and troubleshooting manual and CNC machines.

Mathematical (geometry and trigonometry), mechanical and technical skills.
-
Understanding of precision measuring instruments, including micrometers and calipers, and the quality control process.
Required Education and Experience
-
High school diploma or GED.
-
Three plus years’ experience as a CNC Programmer programming with 2D/3D CAD/CAM software, experience with Siemens and Fanuc controls and Mastercam a plus.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Working knowledge of the metric and imperial system.

Working knowledge of measuring instruments including calipers & micrometers. Quality control experience helpful.

Intermediate to advanced shop math including geometry and trigonometry.

Proficient using a PC in a Windows environment.

Knowledge of fabricating and machining weldments.
