Operation New Hope is a nonprofit operating in Jacksonville, Orlando, St. Johns County, the Space Coast, and soon to open in the Tampa/St. Petersburg area. Our pre-release and post-release programs provide job training and placement, and comprehensive support services to people returning from incarceration and others who have been affected by the justice system with the goal of facilitating successful transitions back into the community. We motivate our clients to become productive, responsible citizens, and our programs help prevent recidivism, reduce the repeated costs of incarceration, and improve public safety. Position Overview: The primary purpose of the Employment Support Specialist job is to support the Employment Team and Ready4Work clients by managing critical milestones needed for graduation and job placement.
Reports to: Workforce Development Manager
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- The Employment Support Specialist may assist with facilitating employability assessments on R4W participants.
- Responsible for ensuring that all program participants receive educational assessments prior to graduation. Works with Employment and Career Development teams to schedule and assist clients taking educational assessments.
- Responsible for working with Employment Team lead on client resumes.
- Supports Employment Team in coordinating Completer's Training for R4W clients not yet employed.
- Picks up daily client lunches and other miscellaneous pick-up and delivery functions.
- Maintains accurate resource list of services to support our clients and communicates updates to program staff.
- Manages Pre-release care packages ensuring that supplies are onsite weekly to support returning citizens.
- May administer client drug screens as needed.
- Provides assistance to Career Development as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education / Experience/ Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent and 5+ years of customer service experience.
- Prior experience working at a non-profit is preferred.
- Experience working with an underserved population is a plus.
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills, with a focus on team collaboration.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent documentation skills.
- Proficiency in using computers, running reports, and learning new software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, as well as electronic client records, and staffing software required.
- Must be able to work Monday through Friday 8:30am-4:30pm.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, clean driving record and reliable transportation.
- Must be able to clear a Level I Background check through the Department of Corrections.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs.
