Job Title: Accounting Clerk
Department: Administration
Reports To: Chief Administrative Officer and Treasurer
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
SUMMARY
Performs accounts payable, month end process, reports and general accounting functions according to established procedures or as directed by the Chief Administrative Officer and Treasurer. Prepare and maintain financial records of the Institute.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following:
- Responsible for the processing and verification necessary to ensure accurate payment of invoices on a timely basis
- Responsible for accurate preparation of information and journals necessary to produce various accounting-related reports
- Maintains accurate records and control reports
- Reconcile liability accounts, prepare schedules and analyses
- Examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
- Processes and distributes 1099 forms
- Processes federal funds requisitions
- Processes ACH wire transfers
- Processes month end functions
· Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and compliance with Institute policies, generally accepted accounting principles, and applicable external regulations
· Document accounting operations to recommend, develop, and maintain business solutions
· Backup and support in other finance areas and purchasing staff as needed
· Other duties as assigned

- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Create and maintain Excel spreadsheets to include creation of pivot tables
- Expertise in the use of computer systems to program, write reports/queries, set up functions, enter data, or process information
- Excellent organizational, data, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Work independently with attention to detail
- Troubleshoot issues, suggest and implement solutions
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE/ CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related business degree
· Associates degree in accounting or related business degree with accounting experience of 2 years OR 5+ years of experience or combination thereof
· System query and/or report writing experience
· Intermediate level with Microsoft Office
Starting Pay: $20.50 per hour
