POSITION SUMMARY:
The Buyers Assistant II role at Ocean State Job Lot (“OSJL” or “Company”) is responsible for supporting a Buyer once a purchase is made, including, but not limited to, generating purchase orders and monitoring their flow to completion. This role works closely with the Buying, Visual Merchandising, Planning and Allocation, Special Projects, and Marketing teams.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Track orders through the production and fulfillment process as well as provide support to ensure accurate order placement to task completion in unison with Buyers Assistant role.
- Collaborate with Merchandising for visual display of product with the use of planograms and planoguides.
- Write the advertisement flier/copy and coordinate the flow of sales from the advertisement placement to the ending store sales.
- Coordinates with the Special Projects team to execute the promotional plan in a timely manner.
- Coordinates and edits purchase orders in unison with Buyers Assistant role. Consults Visual Merchandising, Planning and Allocation as well as Marketing teams to obtain pricing and specifications of products.
- Occasional contact to vendors and suppliers for quotations and to manage outstanding purchase orders.
- Monitors and evaluates promotional initiatives in regard to Insider items and coupons.
- Effectively utilize virtual means to communicate efficiently and work independently under remote conditions as applicable.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- 2 or more years of professional experience in Buying or a related field is required.
- Previous experience in an office environment with administrative duties is required.
- Familiarity with Qlik software is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel is preferred.
- Proficiency in Google platform (i.e., Sites, Slides, Drive, Docs, Sheets) is preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Works primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety and health hazard
potential.
- Works in an office environment remaining stationary at a desk, table, or computer workstation for extended periods of time. Frequently uses near vision for reading and computer tasks.
- Hybrid: Role may have the option to work outside of the company locations. In that case, the role is responsible for setting up a professional and ergonomically safe work environment and to be available during working hours. The role may also bring their own device(s) to complete all work (e.g., all computer hardware and software, including audio and video capabilities for virtual meetings as well as a reliable Internet connection with ability to access the Google platform for virtual meetings and applications used for work).

The hourly pay for this position is $ 21.00 - $ 24.00 per hour. Salary commensurate with experience.
