REPORTS TO: Maintenance Shift Supervisor

POSITION OUTLINE: Responsible for the installation, adjustment, calibration, testing, fabrication, preventive maintenance, on-line troubleshooting and repair of all hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems required to maintain safe and reliable DPM System operations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works within procedures defined in DTC and follows approved technical methods in the installation, adjustment, calibration, testing, fabrication, preventive maintenance, on-line troubleshooting and repairs of all systems;
- Repairs and maintains all electromechanical vehicle subsystems, all track and guideway subsystems and all facilities electromechanical subsystems; implements response plans and actions for unplanned or emergency events and participates in emergency teams of Maintenance personnel of all skill types;
- Emergency teams may evacuate the DPM, assist injured persons; put out fires and perform extensive repairs to structures, power Distribution System, SCADA and ATC Systems;
- Works independently or with assistance of other technicians to accomplish scheduled or unscheduled maintenance functions in all electromechanical areas of the DPM; performs in-depth troubleshooting into problems on hydraulic, HVAC and mechanical hardware systems;
- Interprets maintenance manuals, blueprints, schematics and drawings, and prepares drawings or schematics to communicate with others in the performance of work; functions as a Quick Response Person (QRP) and makes on-the-spot analyses of anomalous vehicle and guideway conditions as required; suggests recommendations to the Maintenance Shift Supervisor for hardware and procedural changes that become evident during performance of DPM System maintenance effort;
- Accounts for all materials used in the performance of the maintenance effort and responsible for completion of work orders in the Preventive Maintenance Control (PMC) system if needed;
- Performs all safety and functional tests of DPM vehicles and other DPM subsystems; operates special purpose motor equipment within the Maintenance Facility and on the guideway structure (recovery; vehicle);
- Operates motor vehicle (4-wheel drive/standard transmission) with valid driver's license; attends technical and safety in-service training programs as directed; performs other duties as assigned.
- Responsible for incorporating safety into all aspects of job functions; responsible for relevant elements of the System Safety Program Plan and the System Security Plan.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic circuits, pumps, air conditioners, humidifiers and drain systems. Understanding of electronic devices, pressure transducers and chart recording devices; ability to read and interpret complex hydraulic and refrigeration schematic diagrams; knowledge and experience with materials methods, tools, hazards and safety practices of mechanical systems, including power hand tools and basic machine shop tools; knowledge of design, modification and construction techniques as well as maintenance procedures for mechanical equipment; building maintenance, plumbing, basic welding skills; sufficient knowledge to ensure quality and adequacy of all mechanical work assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent; requires advanced vocational/technical training (minimum two year Technical school diploma) in theory, operations and maintenance of mechanical systems for heavy transportation vehicles preferably rail transit; and a Minimum of two-year’s experience in the maintenance and repair of large electro-mechanical systems and components. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered. Associates degree in technical coursework desired.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Shift work; valid driver's license; maintains certification/re-certification of DPM task requirements; must pass complete physical examination.
