Responsibilities:
As a Senior Accountant with Hines, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and propriety of all financial data and reports provided by the Hines project teams. This position will report to the Accounting Manager and the Fund Senior Controller. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Review, analysis, and reporting:

Acts as a liaison between Hines ownership, the local in-country accounting team, and regional offices as necessary.

Responsible for all aspects of financial reporting, including review and consolidation as well as the preparation of notes to the financials.

Prepares custom financial reports and detailed analysis for investors, external agencies, and several internal groups within Hines.

Administers portfolio level cash management (i.e., preparation and understanding of calculations supporting Investor capital calls and distributions).

Reviews annual development and property operating budgets prepared by project teams.

Reviews and analyzes quarterly operating reports and project cash flows compared to approved budgets.

Prepares, reviews, and analyzes intercompany account reconciliations among funds accounts and applicable tier entities.

Assists in the reconciliation of forecasted and actual transactions with analyst.
Books and records:

Maintains Partnership and tier entity general ledgers using U.S. GAAP fair value basis of accounting.

Works with Accounting Manager to ensure entries are recorded correctly.

Prepares reconciliation of general ledger accounts for accuracy and completeness.

Research and document accounting positions taken.
Audits:

Understands purpose and procedures of financial statement audits performed by external auditors.

Assists with the preparation and submission of audit workpapers and the annual audit report (with notes) to external auditors.

First point of contact for financial statement audits, notifies auditors of potential audit issues, material transactions which occurred during fiscal year, and any subsequent events. Answers questions and resolves any issues which may arise.

Coordinates internal and investor audits. Prepares information for these audits.
Other:

Prepares tax schedules and projections for external and/or internal tax teams.

Contributes to positive team relations.

Assumes additional responsibilities and assignments as delegated by the Senior Controller or Accounting Manager.
