ODNR owns and manages state parks, state forests, state nature preserves and wildlife areas. We license all hunting, fishing and watercraft; oversee and permit all mineral extraction, monitor dam safety, manage water resources and serve as the second largest Law Enforcement presence in the State of Ohio.
We are accepting applications for a Natural Resources Technician 2 position within the Division of Forestry, headquartered in Scioto County. The address is 13291 U.S. 52, West Portsmouth, Ohio 45663. What you will do…
- Perform semi-skilled general labor &/or preventative maintenance functions of indoor/outdoor facilities, grounds &/or equipment;
- Assist higher-level staff with invasive species program on state & private lands;
- Apply chemical (e.g., herbicides & insecticides) under license of commercial applicator or limited commercial applicator, biological, & cultural controls to suppress forest pests;
- Provide general customer services &/or support for facilities & grounds.
- Starting hourly pay of $19.00/hr with multiple pay increases over your first 4.5 years of service, with an end salary of $20.92/hr.

Qualifications
6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in semi-skilled maintenance functions (i.e., minor electrical repair, rough plumbing repairs, carpentry & masonry); 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in equipment safety practices; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in use of shop, hand & power tools; 6 mos. trg or 6 mos. exp. in operation of mowers & trucks; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in equipment & vehicle maintenance; valid driver’s license.
