Title: Health Communication Specialist
Location: Atlanta, GA
Job Description
Windsor Group is seeking a smart and energetic contractor to support one of the nation’s leading health care protection agencies, the CDC. The ideal candidate will have a background in communications with a strong emphasis on writing and journalism. The candidate will be responsible for specific targeted communication/education campaigns for the organization. The candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as they will meet with different Subject Matter Experts (SME) to collaborate and create campaigns for the organization.
This position will be with the CDC’s Immunization Services Division (ISD), within The National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD). The ISD’s work addresses all vaccine preventable diseases and the recommendations for the associated vaccines.
Specific CDC Task Areas:
- Develop content for Social Media channels such as create messaging, coordinate corresponding graphics creation, handle pre-clearance with HECB and clearance at the ISD center level and NCIRD division level on platforms such as X (Twitter).
- Coordinate social media posting with NCIRD HCSO group.
- Work with Office of Communication’s Branch of Content Engagement to coordinate requests and help with clearance through the Center level.
- Attend DCSS bi-weekly meetings to stay up to date on priority questions from the top narratives from the Standing Topics Digest created by Meltwater/Blackbird AI.) Help to determine if the HECB team can provide information and/or social media messaging to address questions or fill information voids.
- Attend training for Clean Slate to prepare for web content revisions.
- Assist with PowerPoint presentation revisions for training materials.
Specific CDC Social Media Tasks:
- Meet with content team to be aware of new web updates, vaccine updates/guidance, ACIP/FDA vaccine approvals.
- Determine if the new or updated information is suitable for promotion on CDC’s social media channels.
- Determine which CDC channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn) should be used based on the target audience.
- Determine key points and create messaging.
- Work with graphic designer to draft corresponding images.
- Conduct preclearance with ISD Content SMEs and ISD Division-level Associate Director of Science and Associate Director of Communication.
- Address any suggestions/concerns or edits.
- Send for Center wide clearance.
- Send cleared content and graphics to NCIRD HCSO for scheduling on Sprout.
Responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to:
- Identify audiences and participate in and implement formal and informal research plans related to immunization communication/education campaigns and perform tasks related to campaigns.
- Work with Office of Communication’s Branch of Content Engagement to coordinate requests and help with clearance through the Center level.
- Collaborate with SME (Subject Matter Experts) and other team members to create campaigns (web team, education team, etc.)
- Collect and assemble data related to the evaluation of campaigns or other activities/strategies.
- Analyze, develop, and present innovative approaches to developing communication strategies to reach and engage healthcare and public health professionals to increase vaccination and improve vaccine safety.
- Analyze health care provider audiences; segments and profiles audiences; develop or test strategies and messages for different audiences; manage and integrate multiple communication channels (including partners and the media); and oversee the development, coordination, and maintenance of partnerships
- Develop and implement strategic planning and evaluation of communication and marketing activities
- Plan and implement observances aimed at increasing awareness of the importance of vaccines
- Provide Writing and Editing Support
- Write, edit and collaborate with graphic artists, audio/visual producers, and/or new media designers to produce and disseminate a range of materials potentially including Q&A’s fact sheets, matte articles, press releases, text for internet/new media.
- Review and edit reports such as manuals, annual reports, briefing books, and operating procedures (condensing material)

Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a Federal Health Communication Specialist
- Bachelors’ Degree
- Must be able to obtain a favorable adjudicated background check
Preferred:
- 3-5 years of experience supporting the CDC
Salary range:
- $90,000.00 - $95,000.00 (W2)
- Federal Government experience
