FULL TIME RETAIL CUSTOMER SERVICE LEAD
Annie’s Annuals & Perennials, located in Richmond, CA is a nationally recognized, trend-setting plant nursery offering one of the largest selections of rare and unusual annuals and perennials to be found anywhere. Our offerings include exclusive plant introductions, California natives, cottage garden heirlooms, and Mediterranean climate varieties from around the world. The majority of plants are grown from seed without the use of growth hormones, systemic pesticides or neonicotinoids. Our on-site R&D facility and 2.5-acre nursery are a botanical and pollinator wonderland! Annie’s focus on plant education makes gardening accessible to everyone – from beginning gardeners to lifelong enthusiasts. Our business is comprised of retail, wholesale, mail order and web sales. Annie’s is seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and industrious Retail Customer Service Lead to add to our retail staff. We are interested in a candidate who is personable, has excellent communication skills, is highly service oriented, and loves to garden and learn! We strive to provide the highest standard of customer service to our gardening clientele.
The Retail Customer Service Lead works with managers to meet and exceed goals through excellent customer service, as well as assist with merchandising and maintaining the appearance of the store and nursery to contribute to a positive customer experience and organized store operations. In conjunction with the Retail Supervisor, the Retail Customer Service Lead is responsible for ensuring that proper retail procedures and policies are followed.
Lead Responsibilities:
· Facilitate the smooth flow of the checkout process in order to reduce wait times, and provide all customers with a positive checkout experience.
· Promptly respond to customer questions while floating throughout the nursery. Help create a positive and friendly shopping atmosphere for all.
· Oversee the opening and closing of the retail nursery, including cash register opening and PM daily sales reports.
· Oversee cash register transactions and assist sales associates with customer refunds and complaints.
· Maintain inventory systems and submit inventory tracking sheets to supervisors. Update and optimize inventory tracking systems as needed.
· Arrive to work with a can-do attitude, creating a pleasant work environment.
· Build team commitment to high standards of service, exceeding customer expectations and leading by example.
· Assist with escalated customer service issues. Provide appropriate judgment calls for reconciling scenarios where highest quality and service were not upheld.
· Be able to educate customers on our brand and philosophies. Uphold Annie’s standards of educating the public about best gardening practices.
Operational Responsibilities:
· Responsible for managing inventory: direct the stocking of the store as needed, and oversee the maintenance and cleaning of the store. Maintain tidy and well-stocked product displays.
· Receive deliveries and direct to the proper destination as needed.
· Maintain security of the retail area, and understand the operation of the security system.
· Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the nursery. Monitor employees to assure that they clean up after themselves when completing a project.
· Maintain safety standards in the nursery to reduce accidents, falls, etc. Ensure work environment is safe for both customers and employees.
· Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures.
· Any other tasks as assigned by any member of management.
·Potential to receive forklift training and certification. Operate forklift to perform nursery operations.
Qualifications:
· Two years previous retail and/or hospitality experience, nursery experience preferred.
· Ability to lift 50lbs and work out of doors – rain or shine.
· Experience with POS and cash register procedures, including opening and closing.
· Must be able to work quickly and efficiently in a very busy outdoor environment.
· Must be available to work weekends.
· Must be a self-starter with the ability to multi-task, complete assignments and stay focused through interruptions of work flow.
· All applicants must have reliable transportation to work.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
