Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Lead Engineer is responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance of the UHT / ESL equipment.
Work Schedule: Day Shift. Must be able to work weekends and off-hours as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Install and test new equipment and/or parts and start-up machines, ensuring proper operation.
- Trouble shoot issues by reading electrical prints, PLC code, and error codes on the machines.
- Train other mechanics on the operation of the equipment
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting via phone when issues arise off-hours.
- Order and maintain inventory of parts needed for repairs.
- Create and maintain service records and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Perform PMs on equipment which include box formers, robotic palletizers, homogenizer, pumps, air valves, and fillers.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Electrician license or boiler license a plus
- Proficiency in programming PLC’s
- Ability to install, repair, service, test, and troubleshoot equipment
- Must have excellent oral and written communication, as well as training skills
- Ability to read, understand and electrical schematics, blueprints, and diagrams
- Ability to work under pressure experienced during machine downtime
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and diagnostic skills
- Must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
- Wet and slippery floor conditions.
- Must be able to stand and walk during the entire shift.
- Constant bending, lifting, reaching, pulling, and climbing ladders during an eight (8) or ten (10) hour shift.
