Job Description Summary
The Registered Nurse II, Phone Triage for the Access Center reports to the Patient Access Center RN Coordinator. Under general supervision, the RN II provides individualized, goal directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results and outcomes. Functions as a cohesive member of the Call Center team facilitating patient care and treatment through telephone and electronic encounters. The duties include but are not limited to: respond to callers health information inquires (via telephone and internet) and facilitate referrals; provide verbal/printed health information; provide nursing triage for all ages of patients using established guidelines and direct callers to the most appropriate level of care. Demonstrates excellent customer service skills and behaviors.
The Specialty Clinics at Health West are located at the MUSC Citadel Mall location in West Ashley. This position will be primarily based in Dermatology with adult and pediatric populations. The team members (RNs, LPNs and Medical Assistants) work alongside the providers of each specialty to care for their patients. Duties to include rooming patients, taking vital signs and health history, documenting in an electronic medical record, returning patient messages, giving injections and assisting with minor procedures. The position is Monday through Friday (Day Shift – 8:00am to 4:30pm). 4 days per week/10 hour shifts option available. No holidays or weekends and free parking. Come join our wonderful team!

Additional Job Description
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and three years’ experience as a registered nurse. Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Prefer BSN, EMR and phone triage experience, primary care or multi-specialty experience. Pediatric and Adult Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either certification from an American Heart Association (AHA), BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider required. Considerable knowledge of complex medical terminology and advanced disease processes. Considerable knowledge of the cost factors in delivering patient care. Ability to instruct and direct paraprofessional nursing personnel. Ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with other employees and service areas. Ability to appropriately respond to emergency situations.
