Description:
Job Summary: Performs as an instructor in a regular classroom setting, presenting instructions in designated subject area, specifically reading instruction.
Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:45AM - 4:45PM
Duties/Responsibilities:

Maintains a high degree of discipline within the classroom setting in order to insure maximum learning.

Establishes a high degree of student/instructor rapport.

Prepares applicable students for entry into HSE/HSD programming.

Prepares applicable students for required TABE testing and assisting with required 60 hours of instruction within mandated time frames.
- Complete Evaluations of Student Program (ESP's) in a timely manner for students in assigned areas and may participate in evaluation panels. Provides other behavior and progress assessments as requested.

Maintains confidentiality, but reports significant events or situations immediately through approved channels to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of students and staff, and to ensure that required reporting occurs, and that students receive emergency services as needed.

Facilitates prompt and appropriate assistance to students in the event of injury, illness, or emotional trauma.

Meets individually with student assigned to their area responsibility at a minimum of once each month documenting the meetings in case notes.

Utilizes all possible curriculum resources available.

Responsible for the maintenance of student personnel folders.

Records and forwards daily attendance to the Student Records area.

Assists in the completion of all necessary Job Corps forms.

Responsible for ensuring that the equipment and supplies are cared for.

Accountable for the cleanliness of classrooms.

Responsible for reports required by the Manager such as student/staff hours, requisitions and monthly student evaluations.

Assists Manager during scheduled inventory.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Minimum: Postsecondary Degree. State Teaching Certification is required.
Preferred: One year in a teaching capacity with disadvantaged youth.
Knowledge: Knowledge of required subject area, excellent communication skills, both oral and written, excellent organizational skills, must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification, ability to motivate and inspire students, ability to effectively relate to student population.
