Hartman Center for Civic Engagement, formerly the Grover L. Hartman Center for Civic Education and Leadership, strives to develop students into active community members with an understanding and respect of diversity and social justice by facilitating authentic service experiences through collaborative community partnerships.
The Hartman Center educates students through community-based experiential learning, partnerships, and action. The center offers programs such as the Bonner Scholars, DePauw Service volunteering, Stone Scholars, and one-time service events. The center partners with other centers including the Prindle Institute, Center for Diversity and Inclusion, Greek Life, Athletics, and individual faculty and other campus entities to engage faculty, staff, and students in community engagement.
The Sanger Leadership Initiative brings resources and focus to our core efforts to promote leadership development across the campus. Leadership is an integral element of education at DePauw, and we place high value on the experience of learning and learning to lead.
The Director for The Sanger Leadership Initiative provides daily leadership, management, and oversight of critical responsibilities related to the successful operations of student engagement and leadership development programming.
Reporting to the Dean of the School of Business and Leadership, the director coordinates the development, planning, and implementation of leadership programming in collaboration with other centers and offices across campus, with academic departments, with individual faculty, and with students.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
- Develop, implement, and assess a comprehensive student leadership development program by coordinating leadership initiatives and establishing a strategic planning process for student leadership programs.
- Cultivate opportunities for collaboration and partnership with centers, institutes, campus units, and external organizations to develop high-quality student programing and experiences.
- Collaborate and build effective relationships with colleagues, faculty, students, and stakeholders to plan, implement, and monitor co-curricular student leadership programming across the campus.
- Promote diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and a sense of belonging and connection and foster welcoming environments and promote inclusive excellence in programing and delivery.
- Complete administrative functions including budgeting, report-writing, strategic planning, and data collection and management. Develop evaluation and assessments related to student outcomes and program effectiveness.
- Oversee student staff; recruit, hire, mentor, and supervise student employees; delegate work assignments, ensure professional development, and manage workloads.
- Oversee the policies and procedures necessary to support a comprehensive risk management framework that supports the University and community.
- Serve on University committees including the Hartman Steering Committee, others as assigned.

Education: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university required. Master's degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum of three years current and relevant experience.

Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
