Job Summary:
The Buyer Planner is responsible for managing the procurement and inventory planning processes to ensure the timely and cost-effective availability of materials, components, and supplies. This role analyzes demand forecasts, monitors inventory levels, and collaborates with suppliers to optimize purchasing and replenishment strategies. The Buyer Planner plays a crucial role in maintaining operational efficiency and supporting production or service delivery goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze sales forecasts, historical usage data, and other demand signals to develop accurate, data-driven inventory plans
Collaborate with production, operations, and sales teams to understand current and future material requirements
Monitor inventory levels, identify stock-outs or excess inventory, and implement mitigation strategies
Research, evaluate, and select suppliers based on factors such as price, quality, delivery, and reliability
Negotiate contract terms, manage vendor relationships, and resolve supply chain issues
Plan and execute purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of materials and minimize inventory carrying costs
Maintain detailed records of procurement activities, inventory levels, and supplier performance
Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve supplier reliability, and reduce material costs
Provide regular reports and recommendations to management on inventory and purchasing KPIs
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field
3-5 years of experience in a buyer, planner, or supply chain analyst role
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions
Proficient in using ERP systems, inventory management software, and data analysis tools
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally
Understanding of procurement best practices, supply chain dynamics, and inventory management principles
Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Just-in-Time (JIT) systems, and continuous improvement methodologies
Certification in supply chain management, such as APICS CPIM or CPSM, is preferred
Salary:
$75K-$85K
