Position Description:
The Department of Physical Therapy at Long Island University in Brooklyn, NY, invites applications for a full time non-tenure tract appointment (NTTA) faculty position with teaching and administrative duties in our Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. The individual taking this position will carry a 24-credit teaching load per academic year, which is in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and serve as the Assistant Director of Clinical Education (ADCE). There will be possible administrative release time for the below duties. Responsibilities and requirements are as follows:
Teaching: Teaching 24 credits per year in the DPT program with associated departmental service and scholarly productivity, as required by CAPTE. A physical therapist with clinical expertise in musculoskeletal physical therapy, physiology, anatomy, evidence-based practice/research, and teaching and learning content, with a successful history of teaching (full-time or adjunct) in an accredited physical therapy program is required. ABPTS specialist certification is preferred, as are candidates who have or are in the process of completing a terminal degree (PhD, EdD, or DSc).
ADCE: Primary responsibilities include establishing and maintaining clinical placements for DPT students, performing outreach for the establishment of additional clinical placement contracts, conducting site visits for clinical practice courses, on-going assessment of clinical placement sites and experiences, and performing other clinical education related duties as determined by the Director of Clinical Education. Experience working with physical therapy students is desirable. Travel to clinical sites in the tri-state area is required for site visits. There will be 6-credits of release for administrative duties.
Other: Required qualifications include strong interpersonal skills, proficiency in Microsoft office, and the ability to learn industry-specific clinical database management.

Qualifications: Eligibility for licensure in New York State is required. Qualified candidates will have, at a minimum, a Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) degree. Candidates who have or are in the process of completing a terminal degree (PhD, EdD, or DSc) are preferred.
