Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Safety Coordinator to join our team. The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety regulations and promoting a safe work environment.
Responsibilities:
- · Coordinate a SQF Audits, HACCP and Safety Programs
· Internal and External Audit Program and yearly review of food management system
· Assist Corrective Action Program
· Assist quality system documentation and program. Ensure only current document revision level is available for employee access
· Maintain SQF documentation (manuals, SOP’s, registers, food defense program) to ensure compliance
· Drive improvement in documentation and streamline
· Prompt document updates and change notice to support operational needs
· Identify new SOP and instruction requirement: Follow through draft, approval, training, verification and implementation stages. Perform audits to ensure effectiveness
· Assure prompt revision of documentation to support audits and audit program, prerequisite programs
· Manage necessary training based on new documentation, SQF code awareness, reported operational GMP & HACCP deficiencies and consumer comments
· Follow HACCP principles and Good Manufacturing Practices. Comply with Food and Personal safety procedures, company policies and regulations
· Serve as a liaison for OSHA, EPA, DOT, Fire Marshall, Insurance and local community health departments
· Maintain the implementation of EH & Safety policies and procedures in accordance with all Federal, State and Local Regulations
· Guide department managers and supervisors in conducting their department safety activities
· Interpret safety and security rules, regulations and procedures for the company
· Coordinate with Plant Manager to ensure associates are properly trained on new/revised safety policies. Provide training records to Human Resources
· Perform other assigned tasks in order to drive improvement and support Quality Mission Statement
Experience:
- Previous experience in safety coordination or a related field
- Knowledge of quality inspection, data collection, HACCP, CGMP, FDA regulations, QA/QC, and vision inspection systems
- Familiarity with coordinate measuring machines, Calypso software, and quality assurance processes
· – 5 years of experience managing quality management systems documentation and EH & S in a manufacturing environment with fast pace operations
· Must be familiar with MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint, MS Project and Access preferable
· Ability to work under GMP, HACCP and government regulated quality and OSHA systems
· SQF experience and 3rd party audits highly desirable
· Ability to work with cross functional teams in a three shift manufacturing environment and deliver desirable results, occasionally ability to work flexible hours
· Familiar with principles of accident prevention and loss control
· Able to conduct industrial hygiene practices
· Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Standards and Workers Compensation Laws
· Knowledge of current techniques in the accident prevention and the risk analysis
· Quick to learn and adaptable. Be able for light travel
· Bilingual (English & Spanish) preferred
