JOB SUMMARY
The Purchasing Agent is responsible for the ordering and follow through of all items that are stock inventory. They will work in the Purchasing Department and report directly to the Purchasing Manager. They will also work directly with Shipping/Receiving and the Inventory Control Specialist on the production floor as needed to complete their duties. The ideal candidate will also be a backup to shipping/receiving when they are out or during busy times.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
· Ordering parts as needed to maintain stock levels, as well as assessing vendor lead times and keeping track of them to make sure that all items are in house to prevent production delays.
· Creating part numbers and doing product research as needed when new items are requested that have not been ordered before.
· Updating prices and lead times in the system, as well as updating Excel Spreadsheets for the production floor with items ordered and estimated lead times.
· Following up on orders to make sure they are confirmed from the vendor, tracking down past due orders, working with vendors to resolve lost or damaged orders in a timely manner.
· Assist with other supporting roles within the Purchasing Department as needed.
· Act as a support role to shipping/receiving when they are out or during busy times. Unload boxes and freight shipments as needed, label and stock shelves as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Required:
Experience in purchasing, shipping/receiving
Communication proficiency
Must be able to lift up to 50lbs unassisted
Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word
Desired:
- Previous experience in a heavy manufacturing environment
- Previous experience in managing vendor interactions
- Organizational Proficiency
- Forklift certification
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Clean / valid driver’s license
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
Must be able to communicate in English (both written and oral) as it relates to the job.
Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
Must be excellent communicator utilizing email
WORKING CONDITIONS
The working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. The employee frequently is required to walk; stoop and bend; and work at a desk or table.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment that may include but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protectors, safety shoes, etc.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
