Curalta Foot + Ankle is a rapidly-growing integrated network of Podiatric Medical Practices across NJ, NY, and PA. We are looking for an Experienced Full-Time Medical Payment Posting Specialist, reporting to the Revenue Cycle Operations Manager in our Rutherford, NJ Practice Support Center.
Summary:
The Medical Payment Posting Specialist must have a minimum of 3 years payment posting experience with insurance payments. This position is accountable for posting all insurance and patient paper payments. Specific duties include posting insurance and patient payments, denials, and contractual/other adjustments to patient accounts; transferring coinsurance and deductible balances to patient responsibility; balancing posted payments.
Essential Functions, Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for posting all payments: EFT, ERA, paper checks (insurance and patient), credit cards, $0 payments
- Apply all proper adjustments and denials to patient accounts
- Verify patient’s account number, date of service, name, and date of birth to ensure payment is being applied to correct account
- Verify Batch totals, edit, reconcile, and update payment batches
- Balance the daily cash flow spreadsheets to ensure that the money that went to the bank matches with what was posted in the practice management system
- Identify and report payer denial, payment & recoupment trends and/or problems with carriers to designated AR Supervisor
- Work on special projects as assigned
Education & Experience:
- Minimum 3-years' healthcare or medical office experience (Required)
- Experience with billing software required, Modernizing Medicine experience preferred
- Experience with Podiatry billing a plus
- Experience handling EOB’s and ERA’s
Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of current medical terminology helpful to communicate with staff and patients
- Time Management & excellent organization are very important for this position
- Proficient computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Work & Excel to use daily) e-mail systems, and web-based programs
- Detail oriented with the ability to prioritize, organize, troubleshoot and problem solve
- Excellent time management skills and multitasking skills
- Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting
- Motivated self-starter
- Meet or exceed production requirements of processing 50 accounts/day
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
