We are actively recruiting an Employment Benefits Specialist. The Arc Baltimore Employment Benefits Specialist will ensure that people with intellectual disabilities are provided the proper education, assistance, and advocacy to maintain and access government entitlements when seeking employment.

What you’ll be doing:

Provide essential information about how employment affects federal and state entitlement programs. Including Social Security benefits, Medicaid, SNAP, and housing.
- Monitor changes in employment and report each change to government agencies when necessary.

Complete individualized benefits summaries when necessary.
- Transport supported individuals to various meetings, as needed.

Assist individuals in maintaining benefit eligibility.

Assist individuals in applying for benefits for which they may be eligible.
- Assist with the management of financial resources of individuals as needed.
- Develop and maintain early warning systems needed to ensure benefit eligibility.

Provide technical assistance for individuals, staff, and other stakeholders.
- Accompany individuals and stakeholders to government offices to assist and advocate.
- Liaise and collaborate with governmental organizations regarding ongoing eligibility for individuals.

Assist with the completion of redeterminations for individuals receiving Medicaid, SNAP, Social Security, and other benefits as required.

Participate in yearly plans and intakes as needed.
- Complete all required trainings.

Provide resource information to individuals and families in the organization.

Provide training to pertinent staff who are involved directly or indirectly with benefits.

Participate in interdepartmental planning.

Attend seminars and conferences as required.

Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education and Experience:
- Highschool diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record and three (3) or more years of driving experience.

At least two (2) years of experience working in employment services and/or benefits counseling services.

Knowledge of Social Security benefits, Medicaid, and other entitlements preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to details.
