DEFINITION:
Under the direction of the Chief Finance Officer, this position is responsible for designing, configuring, operating, and maintaining Drew Child Development Corporation’s (“Drew CDC”) data network; monitor network operation and stability; operate and maintain the Drew CDC voice network; respond to network services requests from all staff and management as appropriate; assist in the coordination and support of contracted work crews.
DUTY STATEMENTS
1. Design, configure, operate and maintain campus data network and network operation and stability while assuring network standards and practices.
2. Troubleshoot and resolve network problems involving WLAN, firewalls, physical security, environmental systems and controls, VPN, network Gigaman links and other applications.
3. Conduct diagnostic testing on computers and network configurations as needed.
4. Enforce network security; oversee and maintain metropolitan and wide area network services.
5. Operate and maintain Drew CDC’s voice network including configuring and maintaining communications servers, voicemail systems and phone services.
6. Respond to telephone and voicemail system inquiries as well as service requests from staff and management to troubleshoot problems.
7. Provide planning and support for new projects and departmental special requests.
8. Assure activities, quality of networking services and construction projects comply with established rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
9. Provide support to assure quality of networking services in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.
10. Assist in the coordination and support of contracted work crews and inform administrators and other personnel of current projects, situations and completion of work.
10. Provide technical information to other departments, sites, vendors, contractors and end users.
11. Operate and maintain a variety of specialized equipment, hand and power tools and software related to the upgrade, installation and repair of network systems.
12. Provide training and support in the proper use of installed software systems.
13. Attend and participate in meetings, conferences and seminars related to computer technology to maintain current knowledge of technological advances in the field.
14. Support network requirements of tenant contractors and vendors.
15. Prepare and maintain records related to assigned activities, databases and maintenance of assigned system; user documentation.
16. Demonstrate sensitivity to and respect for the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of Drew CDC staff, management and community;
17. Perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination equivalent to:
· Associate’s degree on Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field with four-years of experience with voice and data networks including some experience with structured wiring practices, or;
· Graduation from high school supplemented by college-level coursework in computer science or related field and five-years of experience with voice and data networks including some experience with structured wiring practices.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
· Valid California C Driver’s License

ENVIRONMENT: Work is both indoors and outdoors but primarily office environment; Constant interruptions; Constant contact with customers, end users and general public; Use of cleaning solvents and related odors; Mechanical and other equipment rooms; Work in closed or confined spaces; Work can be in tunnels under buildings and other potentially hazardous areas; Noise from equipment operation; Variable or evening hours.
PHYSICAL: Primary functions include sitting, climbing (stairs, hills), grasping and the use of finger dexterity several times per day for three (3) or more hours. Standing and stooping occur several times throughout the workday. Reaching, crouching, pushing, pulling may be required throughout the course of the week.
VISION: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents as well as in color; and to operate assigned equipment.
HEARING: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
COMMUNICATION: Must be able to effectively communicate with others up to three (3) or more hours throughout the workday.
