The Insurance Coordinator is primarily responsible for procuring authorizations for clients to be assessed and enter ongoing ABA therapy. This position is the link between the Intake Department and/or Clinical teams and funding sources.
Essential Job Duties
- Work with insurance plans to procure authorizations for assessments and ABA therapy quickly, accurately, and efficiently
- Consistently meet departmental authorization target quotas
- Demonstrate proficient communication skills to keep all involved parties up to date on authorization status
- Strictly adhere to departmental timelines to facilitate efficient processing times
- Develop strong working knowledge of contracted and carve out insurance plans to help educate clinical teammates and families on requirements
- Take a proactive approach to authorization procurement with a sharp focus on (a) helping clients access care, and (b) avoiding revenue exposure caused by expired authorizations
- Effectively use shared lists (New Packet Tickets, FBA Tickets, Expired Auths) to guide workflow
- Collaborate with other Insurance Coordinators to ensure high level of performance across the department
- Contribute to a culture of excellence within the Authorizations Department
- Any other duties as reasonably expected
Experience/Skills and Abilities
- 1-2 years of insurance and authorization procurement experience preferred
- Exposure to behavioral health/ABA field(s) preferred but not required
- Strong organizational skills and superior attention to detail
- Outstanding communication skills
- Demonstrate ability to follow appropriate compliance guidelines at all time
- Track record of success working at a fast pace, and able to adapt to a fluid business environment
- Ability to multitask, demonstrate a sense of urgency and results orientation
