Job Summary
The HR Generalist is responsible for management of all HR functions including compliance, cross-functional alignment of policies and procedures, safety administration, performance management, recruiting and hiring, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and other HR-related policies and processes. The HR Generalist must support and promote Cornerstone Valley’s mission, values, and culture.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties
Individuals/Family Related/Community
- Mediate concerns and feedback for both staff and individuals we serve. This can include assistance in responding to crisis situations or crisis referrals.
- Assists House Managers in complaint resolution specific to individuals, staff, and Cornerstone Valley.
- Represent Cornerstone Valley in a professional and knowledgeable manner when interacting with people in the community and others associated with Cornerstone Valley.
- Participate with the individuals Cornerstone Valley supports by interacting with them in a positive manner with dignity and respect.
- Promotes an environment of trust, respect, and value for our individuals, staff, and the community.
Administrative
- Demonstrated knowledge regarding Cornerstone Valley policies and procedures, company changes, and the types of supports Cornerstone Valley provides.
- Ensures House Managers are following all state and federal laws and rules
- Makes ongoing visits to the homes and provides House Managers with feedback on what is being done well and areas for improvement.
- Ensures homes are clean, safe, and in good repair. Works with Operations Manager to execute repairs if needed.
- Thorough knowledge of Individual Support Plans
Staff
- Provide mentoring and guidance to House Managers in regard to individuals in the home, management of staff, documentation, licensing compliance, and professional development.
- Manages the talent acquisition process, which includes job postings, applicant tracking, recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings for Redmond.
- Ensures the accurate and timely maintenance of all personnel records including but not limited to hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations.
- Manages HRIS records and database reporting.
- Administers compensation and benefits programs including health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurances, tuition benefits, pension plans, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, and employee assistance; manages open enrollment process and benefits changes due to qualifying events.
- Ensures compliance in all areas of HR including leave/ADA, OSHA, EEOC, as well as other federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices.
- Proactively reviews and updates policies and practices to maintain compliance and responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
- Responsible for the timely and accurate reporting of employee statistics to government entities and satisfactory management of unemployment claims.
- Manages workplace training and documentation as required which includes such training areas as interviewing, hiring, terminations, as well as required workplace training for safety, anti-discrimination, and anti harassment.
- Supports managers in administering performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within the company.
- Collaborates with HR Director to address employee concerns and other human resource and employment matters.
- Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation, and coordinates exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
- Prepares, reports and recommends procedures to reduce absenteeism and turnover.
- Responsible for emergency preparedness plan and implementation, including evacuation of facility, communications and emergency equipment and supplies.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance.
- Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
- Respectfully takes direction from manager.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field with a minimum of 5-8 years of HR generalist experience required.
- High proficiency in areas of employment law, compliance, compensation, and recruiting.
- Strong leave (FMLA/OFLA/ADA) experience, UI Administration, day-to-day technical ER experience and some benefits administration experience required.
Certificates, Licenses and/or Registrations
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or HRCI certification highly desired.
