Job Summary: The Radiology Tech will report to the OR Nurse Manager and will perform x-rays, CT scans, or MRI scans and other diagnostic imaging examinations on patients, to assist the surgeon in diagnosing and treating patients while ensuring the production of clean images while prioritizing patient safety.
Essential Job Functions:

Operates diagnostic imaging equipment to perform x-rays, CT scans, MRIs, or mammograms to produce images of a

patient's tissues, organs, bones, and vessels for diagnostic purposes, as directed by Physician.

Ensures patient care, comfort, and safety, following established radiologic requirements and regulations.

Prepares patient for radiologic procedures, answers technical questions, and offers pre-procedure advice.

Positions patient on examining table and changes immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body.

Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.

Moves equipment and patient into specified position, and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure time and distance,

based on knowledge of radiographic exposure techniques and protocols.

Analyzes and reports results to Radiologist.

Practices radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding skills, and knowledge of applicable exposure factors, to minimize radiation to patient and staff.

Maintains adequate radiologic supplies.

Completes necessary reports and inputs required information into patient's records.

May operate mobile imaging equipment in operating room, or at patient's bedside.
Requirements:
Education, Licensure and Experience

An associate or bachelor’s degree in radiography is preferred.

Completion of a specialized certificate program in radiologic technology.

Able to work independently while closely coordinating with clinical staff.

Excellent interpersonal communications skills.

Strong listening skills and the ability to build rapport with patients.

Skills and Abilities

Proven work experience as a Radiology Technician or similar role

Excellent communication, interpersonal and patient service skills.

The ability to operate and understand radiographic technology and equipment.

The physical stamina to stand for long periods and operate heavy machinery without assistance.
