In support of our client, an international Automotive manufacturer with headquarters in middle Tennessee, we have an immediate need for a Sr. Engineer - Civil/Structural to support facility expansion projects based at our client’s facility in Smyrna, TN. As a member of our client's Regional Facilities Engineering team, you will act as an owner's representative providing leadership and administration of a new Stamping Press addition for an estimated 24-month contract assignment, with opportunity for direct hire. This position pays $100,000 - $140,000 per year.
Job Responsibilities
- This position is responsible for regional project development and management in assigned areas consisting of new construction, remodel, or renovation of buildings, facilities, and equipment. Responsible for overseeing industrial construction projects from specification development through final construction. Projects can range from $5MM up to $100MM+
- Knowledgeable of industrial civil site and building designs, i.e., concrete, grading, drainage, utilities, etc. Must have knowledge of general rules, regulations, and implementation regarding design, schedule keeping and safety.
- Role will have field and project management responsibilities for industrial construction projects, including all phases of Civil and Structural. Will also need to possess an understanding of other disciplines within the project, i.e., Mechanical Systems and equipment installation and other facility related construction.
- Duties to include, but not limited to preliminary surveys, drawing preparation, scope of work, contractor sourcing / pre-bid meetings, project folder preparation, construction document reviews to ensure adherence to IBC, NEC, NFPA, project initiation, and project closeout.
- Manage Architectural/Engineering and General Contracting firms during project design and construction phases. Typical work time will be 70% desk work, and 30% in the field, but can vary depending on the needs of the project.
- Manage change order processes.
- Provides regional engineering analysis and technical support to the Facilities Operations teams in the U.S. & Canada.
- Establishes and maintains regional standards and specifications for Site Grading, Stormwater, Site Utilities, Concrete Foundations, Concrete Pits & Walls, Concrete Slabs, Structural Steel, Process Support Steel, and Miscellaneous Steel to ensure compliance with sound engineering practices and established standards, codes, and regulations.
- Assists with new project development, resource, and budget planning within assigned areas.
- Be accountable and demonstrate ownership for all assigned projects.
- Provide management to assure compliance with the contract documents in the areas of quality assurance, safe performance, coordination with other trades, and performance of the work in accordance with the project schedule. Will oversee inspection and monitoring of construction activities for Industrial Expansion Projects as well as coordination with plant operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (BSCE) or related discipline from an accredited college or university and 5+ years of professional level construction project management experience is highly preferred, however relevant experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.
- Ability to make modifications and some design using AutoCAD.
- Successful candidate should be able to work independently, organize and prioritize work, communicate clearly and concisely verbally and in writing; exercise initiative and use sound judgment; make recommendations to management; communicate effectively with individuals from various ethnic and culturally diverse backgrounds; establish and maintain effective and positive working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
