As a Junior System Administrator, you will be an integral part of our IT team, responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our company's computer systems. In a fast-paced, 24/7 environment, you will work closely with the CIO to support our users, network infrastructure, servers, and software applications.
Key Responsibilities:
System Monitoring and Maintenance:
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and perform routine maintenance tasks.
- Ensure system availability, reliability, and security through proactive monitoring and maintenance.
User Support:
- Provide technical support to end-users, resolving hardware and software issues promptly and effectively.
- Assist with user account management, password resets, and access permissions.
Server Administration:
- Assist in installing, configuring, and maintaining servers (physical and virtual).
- Manage user accounts, file permissions, and system backups.
Network Administration:
- Assist in managing and troubleshooting network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Help maintain network security, including monitoring for intrusions and implementing security policies.
Software Installation and Updates:
- Assist in the installation, configuration, and updating of software applications.
- Ensure software licenses are up-to-date and in compliance with company policies.
Documentation and Training:
- Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Provide training to end-users on IT systems and best practices.
Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other team members and departments to support organizational goals and projects.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving IT systems and processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong understanding of computer systems, networks, and IT security principles.
- Experience with operating systems (Windows, Linux) and server administration.
- Experience with Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Co-Pilot is desired.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) is a plus.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) is desirable.
- Willingness to learn industry specific software and general software utilized in daily operations.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- The will require travel to the support office in the tri-state area.
We operate 24/7, and scheduling flexibility is required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $52,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
