The Department of Interprofessional Health and Aging Studies (IHAS) at the University of Indianapolis (UIndy) seeks an Assistant or Associate Professor, Tenure Track, to teach in and serve as the Program Director for the Aging Studies Programs, which are 100% online. We are interested in a dynamic individual with experience in both online teaching and higher education administration. This is an outstanding opportunity for a professional to join a growing University as we reimagine and revitalize our online academic programs. The start date is August 2024, but an earlier start date is negotiable. This position is eligible for hybrid employment, with some required on-campus visits each academic year.

Required:

Evidence of successful academic teaching in the subject matter.
-
Evidence of successful experience with distance education design and delivery, including the use of a learning management system.

Developing or ongoing scholarly agenda and service participation.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Products.

Preferred:

Evidence of successful administrative experience, particularly in the higher education setting.

Experience using Google Products.

Completion of Quality Matters training (e.g., the Applying the Quality Matters Rubric).
Education
-
Terminal academic doctorate (PhD, EdD, DHSc, etc.) with a primary or secondary focus in Gerontology, Aging Studies, or a related field required.

Administrate the Aging Studies programs.
-
Engage in curriculum development and evaluation, ensuring the Aging Studies programs take an applied approach to addressing current issues, practices, and concerns within the field of aging.

Maintains the program course schedule.
-
Participate in student recruitment, registration, and placement activities.
-
Orient new students to the programs.
-
Maintain student records.
-
Support accurate degree and certificate progress for students, including final degree/certificate audits.
-
Provide supervision and support for adjunct faculty.
-
Schedule and facilitate virtual program meetings.
-
Assist with the monitoring of the program budget.
-
Assist with the development and maintenance of program/department policy/protocols.
-
Attend and participate collaboratively in virtual department and faculty meetings.
-
Attend and participate in on-campus meetings and events as needed.
-
Maintain regularly scheduled office hours in order to advise and assist students on academic and career issues.

Design and deliver courses with clear outcomes, meaningful assignments, and transparent, timely assessment. Courses will be offered in a completely online format.

Model effective teaching and professionalism.

Manage inclusive, responsive learning environments.

Keep abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.

Conduct research in a particular field of knowledge, and publish findings in professional journals, books, and/or electronic media.

Participate in campus and community events and service to the department, university, and profession.

Serve on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies, departmental matters, and academic issues. Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching and research issues.
