Billing Specialist/Patient Care Coordinator

Position Overview: As a billing specialist, you will play a pivotal role in revenue cycle management. You are responsible for overseeing bill processes including insurance eligibility check, Charge entry, Billing, Claims, Patient AR and Insurance AR on daily basis. You will also post payments, handle denied claims, work with patients to collect payments, along with other revenue cycle functions. You will also participate in patients’ care coordination including communicating with patients on the phone, educating patients about payment options and financial assistance etc.
The key duties and responsibilities of the Revenue Cycle Specialist Assistant include, but are not limited to:
- Verify insurance information prior to billing
- Review coding for accuracy prior to sending claims
- Process all Primary, Secondary, and tertiary claims and address any edits or rejections.
- Correct claims based on denials and rebill using payor-approved processes.
- Post all patient, insurance and third-party payments
- Insurance AR
- Patient AR
- Process bad debt
- Send financial statements to patients
- Send accounts to collections appropriately according to policies.
- Answer patients’ phones and questions
- Coordinate patients’ care
- Appropriately document and report payment information
- Educate patients about payment options and financial assistance
- Identify coding errors and process issues, providing support to providers and staffs in billing for fertility treatment services
- Proactively address delays in payment and handle coding and billing appeals.
- Review EMR system setups to ensure compliance with coding and billing rules.
- Stay updated on coding changes and guidelines, federal and state healthcare billing rules, regulatory requirements, and industry-standard billing practices as they pertain to fertility treatment.
- Complete duties and assist others as directed
- Assist front desk and clinical staffs as needed and directed
QUALIFICATIONS: To thrive in this role, you should possess:
Education/Experience
- High School diploma or GED
- Minimum 2 years medical billing experience
- CPC or other equivalent certification
- OBGYN or Fertility Coding Experience a plus
- Experience with nAbleIVF (EMR) Billing Systems preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- High level of independence, adaption, and accuracy
- Problem-solving mindset and capability
- Proficiency in working with healthcare insurers and their reimbursement systems, especially commercial insurance plans.
- Expertise in CPT, Modifiers, HCPC, ICD-11 codes, and medical terminology.
- Proficiency with Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and EMR systems.
- Understanding of EOB, ERA, and insurance claim processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to manage relationships with insurance payers, medical offices, and community facilities.
- Experience in filing claim appeals with insurance companies.
- Responsible use of confidential information/HIPAA compliance.
- Ability to multi-task and work courteously and respectfully with clients and patients.
- Superior customer service skills. Demonstrating patience, composure, and cooperation; working well with all patients, physicians, and staff
- Ability to provide feedback to improve performance

Compensation
The compensation range for this position is $25-$34, depending on experience. Candidates with experience significantly higher than the job requirements may be eligible for an increase band. This position may also be eligible to receive a variable bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. Benefits include health insurance, PTO, 6 paid holidays annually and more.
