Background
The New York City Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of the City’s children and families by providing child welfare, juvenile justice, early care and education funding, and primary prevention and other services that promote and support child and family well-being.
Office of Information Technology
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is responsible for providing Information Technology (IT) services to ACS. These services include Systems Development, Database Management, Network and Telecommunication Services, as well as technical support needs. The department provides IT solutions to address the agency’s overall business and operational needs. The department is also responsible for interacting with the New York State Office of Children and Family Services and other NYC agencies regarding all IT related issues. This Office of Information Technology is also responsible for implementing and enforcing compliance with NYC Cyber’s and OTI’s Citywide IT policies.
Infrastructure
The Infrastructure unit is responsible for IT Infrastructure management for ACS which comprised of five operational areas: Server Operations, Network Operations, Datacenter & IT Operations, Systems Design & Architecture, and Specialized Applications Support. Server Operations oversee and mange server environment consisting of 400+ physical/virtual servers, at our datacenter and remote sites (configuring, patching, provisioning, vendor management, etc.). Network Operations oversee and manage entire network landscape. This includes our datacenter, Switching, Routing LAN/WAN/WWAN connectivity, VPN/Remote Access, Storage (SAN/NAS), Data security, all IT footprint throughout all 37 ACS offices in five boroughs consisting of 200+ network gears.
Scope of Work
Field Operations Specialist is responsible for managing IT Technology Rooms (MDF, IDF, Datacenter). The candidate specific duties will include:
· Validate Daily Operations of the Equipment installed in the IT Operations Rooms in offices located across the assigned Borough.
· Install, Connect and Configure Backup Power Supplies (UPS) and Power Distribution Units (PDU) to connect Hardware Equipment
· Maintain an updated inventory of all Hardware Equipment Installed in the IT Operations Rooms in offices located across the assigned Borough.
· Maintain clean and organized the IT Operations Rooms in offices located across the assigned Borough.
· Act as a Point of Contact with Vendors for all Hardware Equipment Installed in the IT Operations Rooms in offices located across the assigned Borough for equipment deliveries and equipment replacement.
· Work in conjunction with other Infrastructure groups to identify and resolve any issues affecting the Hardware Equipment installed in the IT Operations Rooms in offices located across the assigned Borough.
· Perform Hardware Equipment Replacement for failed components in coordination with ACS Infrastructure Groups and Product Vendors (Hard Disk, Power Supplies, RMAs)
· Rack and Stack Hardware Equipment (Servers, Switches, Routers, Hardware Appliances, Wireless Access Points) as required.
· Perform Commissioning of UPS, PDU, Environmental Monitoring Devices (Cooling, Humidity)
· Perform Network Patching (Connecting Patch Cords to Switches, Routers, Data Circuit CPE, Servers, Hardware Appliances)
· Completing Circuit Cutovers in coordination with NYC OTI and ACS Infrastructure Network and Telecom Groups
· Un-rack and remove retired hardware part of Refresh Projects and follow the Decommission process in coordination with Directors of Infrastructure and Asset Management
Vendor Qualifications
· Preferably 5 years proven experience as Field Operations in Information Technology
· Experience in managing MDF and IDF technology rooms.
· Experience working with various tools (e.g., MS Office including Project, PowerPoint, Visio, MS Teams, PPM, SharePoint)
· Working knowledge of IT Infrastructure - Windows Servers, VMWare, Cisco Network Gears, Wi-Fi, VoIP, on prem Datacenter Center, Desktop, laptops, Smartphones, EPL Data circuits, UPS, PDU, Security surveillance systems
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
· Ability to multitask and perform in a high-paced/high-pressure environment.
· Ability to work independently or within a group to solve complex problems.
· Strong team player with service-oriented attitude and customer focus
· Vendor management skills
· Must be able to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50lbs.
· Must be able to travel as needed between 37 ACS sites in NYC 5 Boroughs including 24x7x365 sites Children’s Center and 2 Secure Detention Center facilities.

Normal Business Days/Hours: Monday – Friday (9:00am - 5:00pm includes one-hour unpaid lunch) - 35 hours work week. This
